Redesigning @WeAreBacklot's Instagram Feed

BEFORE

AFTER

While interning at Backlot, I took the initiative to redesign the company’s Instagram feed using Canva. My goal was to create a more cohesive, on-brand, and visually engaging presence that better reflected Backlot’s identity as a full-service location management company.

Profile Photo

  • Replaced the logo on a plain blue background with a photo of Manhattan’s skyline to better represent Backlot’s identity as a full-service location management company.

  • The chosen image also appears on Backlot’s website homepage, creating visual cohesion between the two platforms.

  • The new photo gives users an immediate sense of what the company does, even before opening the profile.

Profile Bio

  • Simplified the bio to make it clearer, faster to read, and more engaging.

  • Added relevant emojis to improve visual flow and make the profile feel more approachable and dynamic.

Story Highlight Covers

  • Removed outdated and irrelevant highlights to streamline the profile.

  • Added new highlights for each major location Backlot operates in, reflecting the company’s national reach.

  • Designed clean, cohesive highlight covers in Canva for a more professional and polished look.

  • Supported a company goal to showcase more locations beyond NYC and make navigation easier for users.

Reel Covers

  • Previously, reel covers were selected video stills, resulting in inconsistency and hard-to-read text.

  • Designed a custom Canva template for reel covers with clear typography and uniform layout.

  • Created a consistent visual identity that mirrors the design style of the website, tying all brand platforms together.

The redesigned feed now feels cohesive, branded, and visually professional, improving both user experience and brand perception. These updates would help strengthen Backlot’s digital presence and position the Instagram account as a true extension of the brand.
